About nontoxicnook

Hi, I'm Lucas
I'm the founder and editor of nontoxicnook. I'm constantly reading news about the harms of the chemicals and plastics we surround ourselves with, and I've been passionate about getting rid of all of those in my home. So now I share the products I've found and write articles about the research, to share it all with everyone.
I keep a very clean home, but the fabrics around us are constantly shedding. I'll never forget one sunny day, sitting on my couch and watching the plume of dust rise like it always does — but that day was different.
I had just read new research on the microplastics we inhale every single day, and it clicked: that dust is plastic. My couch, my rug, my curtains, my bedding — all of it was synthetic, because it was cost-effective and I wasn't thinking when I bought it. And the polyester was quietly breaking down into the air of the apartment where, like most people, I spend nearly all of my time.
We spend something like 90% of our lives indoors, and indoor air is often worse than the air outside. The more I looked, the more I found the same thing everywhere — synthetic materials and undisclosed chemicals in the products we live closest to, slowly working against our health over years.
What I'm trying to do
I believe clean air matters more than almost anything, and your indoor environment is the one thing you can actually control — no matter where you live or what you can afford to change about the rest of your life. You decide what you bring into your home.
The problem is that "non-toxic," "all-natural," "eco-friendly," and "clean" don't mean anything on their own. Brands lean on those words because they're undefined. Replacing the synthetic things in your home with genuinely organic ones means hours of cross-checking labels, materials, and certifications for a single purchase. I kept thinking: someone should just do this once and track everything that's been reviewed in one directory — like Amazon, but for organic products only.
That's nontoxicnook. I constantly update the product directory and post new research so you can learn about and find every non-toxic product for your home in one place.
A note on who I am
I'm an obsessive, informed consumer. I don't trust labels at face value. If a product can't be shown to be organic and non-toxic — full ingredient or materials disclosure, no PFAS, no polyester or plastics in contact with food or skin, no chemical flame retardants — it doesn't go on the site. Where I can lean on independent, third-party certifications, I do. The full standard is on Our Promise, and exactly how I research is on the Editorial Policy.
Who this is for
I'm doing this for the people who are starting to feel what I felt — that the stuff filling our homes might quietly be harming us — but don't know where to begin, or who just want a single place to find products for their home. More and more of us are waking up to how our environment shapes our health, and then hitting a wall the moment we try to actually shop for something better, because non-toxic products are hard to find without a lot of research. I want to put it all in one place.
Why you can trust it
- No one can pay to be here. Brands can't buy a listing, a ranking, or a kinder write-up. There's no sponsored tier, and there never will be.
- Affiliates do not get special treatment Buying through an outbound link keeps the site free and independent but commissions don't affects what gets listed or how it ranks. Most products aren't part of any affiliate program; I'll always post the best products. Full breakdown in the Affiliate Disclosure.
- nontoxicnook is not a store. I don't sell or stock anything. Every product page links out to the brand or retailer who does.
- My name is on it. If I get something wrong, you know exactly who to email — and I'll fix it and say so.
Make your home a place that's working for your health, not against it. If you've got a question, a correction, or a product I should look at, email me directly at hello@nontoxicnook.com. I read every one.
